Get to know us

Here's a little fact file written by each of us, made with you in mind so you can find out a little bit about us! Of course, there's so much more to learn, but this is a good starting point.

Emma's Fact File:
Name: Emma Jane Shallcross

Age: 18

Nationality: British

Eye Colour: Hazel (this makes it sound like I have gorgeous eyes, but in actual fact they are very boring)

Weird Fact: I'm a twin (in case you hadn't figured this out yet guys)

Height: Something like 5"7. I feel very lucky to have a boyfriend who is over 6 foot.

Favourite food: Pasta, bread and anything that's full of carbs really. In fact, it's quite hard to pinpoint what my favourite food is, as I'm a bit of a fat b*tch. It would probably be easier to list my least favourite food.

Least favourite food: Tuna and fish in general, broccoli, bananas (I used to get force fed these when me and Laur were little) lumpy gravy (or anything with unnatural lumps in it like yoghurt or orange juice. I feel sick just thinking about it)

Job: Alton Towers. Now before you get excited guys, working at a theme park doesn't mean I get to go on the rides on my lunch break, unfortunately. However I do get a nice set of free tickets which come in handy.

Education: 3 A levels and one AS level. I then went on to go to uni, however dropped out after a few months! (There will be many future blogs written about this)

Most embarrassing memory: Oh lord, there are so many it's hard to pinpoint just one. One of the worst has got to be when I fell out with my friend and sent an angry text about her to my boyfriend, listing all the reasons why she was such a bad friend. But because it was me and I have terrible luck, I went and sent it to her instead. I'm facepalming thinking about it now.

Favourite things to do: Shopping, eating, writing, visiting new places and travelling. Though I like the occasional night out, I'm more of a days out person. I like my beauty sleep (and trust me, you don't want to encounter me when I haven't had enough sleep)

Relationship: I have a boyfriend who has somehow managed to tolerate me for just over a year and a half. Amazingly, he can tell me and Laur apart and swears he doesn't fancy her (there will be many more future posts about dating when you're a twin as well)

Any pets: I have a very fat cat called Tuna (we didn't name her guys I promise)

Thing I like most about myself: I feel like if I look in the mirror on a good day and stand at the right angle I have quite a nice shaped body (this is usually in the morning, before I have eaten)

Thing I dislike most about myself: My eyelids- or lack of them. There must be other people out there with no eyelids, right?

Laura's fact file:
Name: Laura Andrea Shallcross

Age: 18

Nationality: British

Eye colour: hazel (but more like mud unless I'm in bright light, to be honest)

Weird fact: I have a tattoo on the back of my neck. It's a henna-style bird with the words 'explore, dream, discover' underneath, and I got it to remind myself never to settle down until I've done every bit of traveling I've ever dreamed of doing over the years. It's not exactly weird, but not a lot of people know it exists! Maybe I'll post a photo of it sometime to show you guys.

Height: Em is wrong, we are 5"6, I'm sure of it! My boyfriend was not blessed with the height gene unlike Em's, so wearing heels around him is out of the question, sadly.

Favourite food: I'm a carbs lover, like Em. I'm pretty sure I could live off pasta for every day of the rest of my life if it came to that. I get the occasional craving for chicken, too, but it has to be really well done for me to enjoy it. In fact, I cook all my food to the point of charchol- chips, pasta, toast, you name it. It just tastes better that way!

Least favourite food: Similar to Em again, seafood, lumpy yogurt and bananas rank high on the Foods I think Should Not have Been Invented. I went through a stage when I was younger of being a sort of sea life activist, judging anyone who ate it and being reduced to tears at the thought of the poor dying fish of the world. And yet I still eat chicken. Double standards.

Job: Same as Em, I work at Alton towers (this is getting very repetitive here). I've been flipping burgers, serving customers and asking people how their days have been and what rides they've been on for three years now, but for a part time job, it isnt half bad! The free tickets that come from working there are definitely a bonus too.

Education: I passed my A-Levls and I'm currently in uni studying Print Journalism in Nottingham. It's a challenging course and sometimes I don't even know if I'm enjoying it, but writing has always been my biggest passion and this was the closest degree to creative writing (which unfortunately isnt a full degree in the UK). But like Em says, you'll hear plenty more on my uni life over time.

Most embarrassing memory: Considering my whole life is just one series of embarrassments, I don't even if I can class them as 'embarrassments' anymore, but I'll go with the most recent: it was fresher's week at my uni, I'd moved away from home and was settling into life with my new flatmates. On a group chat we'd set up beforehand, I messaged a couple of my female flatmates to give them a heads up about a couple of our male flatmates, as I was the first to arrive. Let's just say my first impressions weren't the best, and I labeled one of them 'a nerd' and said the other one was 'really rude'.

Skip a few days, and we added the boys to our flat group chat. It was only on a night out when one of the boys approached me and said: 'who is the nerd, and who's the rude one?', that I found out that both of them had read back in the group chat and discovered my harsh comments about them. I then had to live with them for the rest of the year. Awkward.

Favourite things to do:I like to be kept busy, and have a very short attention span so I enjoy anything that actually manages to occupy my mind in some way. This includes everything from shopping (especially when I'm going on a big spending spree) to watching Prison Break on Netflix- the plot is so confusing that it keeps me mega focused! I also love traveling. My anxiety makes me feel suffocated if I stay indoors too long, so there's no bigger release than getting in the car and driving through the open world.

Relationship:I met my boyfriend, Brad, in a club on a drunken night out, which is why I no longer judge anyone for meeting their boyfriends in the oh-so-classy way that I did. He's the sweetest, kindest and most hilarious person to me, and we've been together for just over half a year now.

Any Pets: Same as Em, of course. Our cat Tuna is more of a sister than a cat, because of how human-like she can sometimes be. We'll share some photos and stories about her soon.

Things I like most about myself: My legs. It used to be my bum, when I was always going to the gym. I got it really toned from doing weight exercises. I'm planning to get back into it for the summer, so I'll definitely be posting my exercise tips in the future.

Thing I dislike most about myself: MY NOSE. I'm convinced it's the first thing people see when they look at me. It's huuuuuge! Even my boyfriend didn't object when I told him a nose job was on my future to-do list. Also, I have stick arms. Even when i gain weight, it just goes to other places, annoyingly.
